Our Story

Disclaimer: This is Jack's version of events...

More than eight years ago, Jack and Elinor crossed paths at a venue in Chelsea Harbour. Jack was there with a new company, Elinor was celebrating a leaving party. By coincidence, one of Jack’s colleagues recognised one of Elinor’s from years before, and just like that, the first thread of their story was woven.

Later that evening, fuelled by a little tequila and a lot of courage, Jack asked Elinor for her number. She said yes. As the night drew to a close, the group had moved on to a restaurant nearby. When Jack arrived, he sat beside Elinor, their legs touching under the table, a small moment that was the spark of what would become.

They planned their first date and from then on where they ended up at the same place they first met. After that, they were inseparable. They made homes across London, eventually moving to their first place together in Belsize Park. When Elinor decided to pursue her Master’s degree in Edinburgh, Jack was able to work remotely and join her. There, they discovered the joy of a smaller city, one where friends were a short walk away and felt slower.

After Elinor graduated, they returned to London and settled in Putney. As the city began to feel bigger and busier, the idea of a new chapter took shape, and when an opportunity opened up in Stockholm, they moved to Elinor’s home country.

Sweden brought its own adventures. With more moves over the 8 years than either would care to count, they finally found their place and bought a home together, where they’ve happily been for the past few years.

In early 2025, they travelled to Mexico. Jack planned the perfect moment during a private cenote tour near Tulum, and got down on one knee and asked Elinor to spend forever with him.

And that brings us to today. With hearts full and surrounded by the people we love most, we can’t wait to celebrate our wedding with you by Lake Maggiore!

A Guest’s Guide to Verbania

Set on the western shore of Lake Maggiore, Verbania is known for its gardens, easy access to the Borromean Islands and views that stretch from the water to the surrounding mountains. In September, the days are still warm and the lake is at its best. We hope you’ll have time to arrive early, stay a little longer, and make the most of this corner of northern Italy.

Regular ferries run from Pallanza and Intra to nearby towns and the Borromean Islands. It’s an easy half-day outing and a good way to see the lake without a car.• Borromean IslandsTake a boat trip on Lake Maggiore to explore the Borromean Islands each with gardens, palaces and unique charm. Verbania sits on the Piedmont side of the lake. Piedmont is one of Italy’s most important culinary and wine regions, known for its truffles, hazelnuts but especially some of the country’s most respected wines. The region is home to Barolo and Barbaresco (Elinor's favourite wines), as well as historic food capitals such as Alba and Turin. September is a particularly good time to experience the region, with the grape harvest underway and autumn ingredients beginning to appear on menus.
